Community Food Bank

GOD’S PANTRY

is the name of our community food bank which serves thousands of families throughout Gordon County. The Food Bank is open on Mon and Thurs mornings from 9:30 AM – 12:00 PM. This team seeks to take the love of Jesus in a tangible manner to those less fortunate and needy. Volunteer opportunities available (2–3 hrs/wk).

is our community clothes depo which serves hundreds of individuals and families in our community. They are open the second Tues and Thurs morning of each month. Volunteer opportunities available helping sort and fold clothes (2-3 hrs once a month). Donations accepted inside or at drop box behind the church.

AUDIO/VISUAL MINISTRY

is a ministry that strives to make sure the message of the gospel is heard by all. In a worship service, a great measure of responsibility rests on those who volunteer in the audio, video, and media ministries. A well-functioning audio, video, and media team can help the congregation enter into a deeper and more meaningful worship.

Lunches for underprivileged children

BACKPACK BUDDIES

is a joint effort with our sister congregation, Georgia-Cumberland Academy Church, to provide lunches for underprivileged children in our community. This is a joint effort of many volunteers who meet once a month, to put different food items in boxes which are then delivered to schools throughout Gordon County.

is a facet of the church which endeavors to inspire, motivate, equip, train, and mobilize all members. It includes health, personal Bible study, prison and many other ministries. These teams seek to reach households in our community through various door-to-door activities and felt need seminars.

is a ministry distributing our church’s premier missionary publication—The Signs of the Times. It’s a monthly magazine, encourages readers to lead joyful Christian lives as they await the soon return of Jesus. Our church has bright yellow boxes distributed throughout our city which need to be restocked consistently.

is a ministry to help plan, promote and assist in putting on several events in our church designed to foster relationships and making friends with community persons also. They meet regularly throughout the year and are instrumental in bringing joy and fun to our church family. Volunteers can expect to assist 2-3 hrs in prep per event.

 our prayer ministry forms the “power house” for our church as we unite together in petitioning for heaven’s blessings on our church family. This group also helps with prayer coverage and intercession during the worship services, evangelistic series and at other important times. Training is provided to members.

Providing fellowship meals

FIFTY PLUS

is our group that helps provide fellowship meals for our guests, and church family once a month. This ministry helps to build a cohesive community by providing a delicious fellowship meal and comfortable space to visit together. There are several volunteer positions available and take about 2hrs/wk.

Fosters community and support for the ladies

WOMEN’S MINISTRY

centers on meeting the needs of women in our community and also meets to plan events and socials to help foster community and support for the ladies in our church. This team also puts on a social event for ladies in the community once a year which has been an effective outreach for the church.

Fellowship for the men in our church

MEN’S MINISTRY

Calhoun Adventist Men’s Organization centers on meeting the needs of men in our community. The group meets to fellowship and pray for each other and plans activities designed to create comradery and bonding. The team typically plans 1-2 camp-outs a year and features a guest speaker.

GREETERS

are the first contact and give the first impression for our guests and members when they come to church for worship. Volunteers help take guests to the appropriate Sabbath School classroom and provide helpful information. Volunteers are needed for at least 2hrs monthly, mostly on a Sabbath.

are the hosts and friendly persons who assist at our welcome center situated in the foyer. The welcome desk is the hub for obtaining resources, information and copies of recent sermons. Volunteers are friendly, helpful and always ready to assist persons in our church, especially our guests with their needs.

ROCK GARDEN

is the premier attraction in Gordon County and across the state. Hundreds of families come to this beautiful place each month, many of whom are from other parts of the country and even from overseas. This beautiful place is open dawn to dusk each day, year round. Volunteer opportunities available 2-3 hrs/wk .

Child-care for parents of young children

WEDNESDAY NIGHT KIDS

assists with child-care of parents of young children who may be attending a seminar or program at a church, thereby allowing them to be able to enjoy the program/seminar that is being offered. Volunteers are required to undergo a background check and typically required 1-2 hours per week depending on programs.

Ministering to prison inmates

PRISON MINISTRIES

seeks to minister to incarcerated individuals in need of hope and the transforming power of Jesus Christ. This team goes out to a local penitentiary to provide spiritual help and teaching to inmates. This is a specialized ministry where training is given and a government background check is required.
